2024 was a pivotal chapter at I Have Rights. In 2024, people in the Samos Closed Controlled Access Centre (CCAC) continued to face dire conditions and violations of their basic human rights. Against this backdrop, our team worked to provide critical support to those seeking safety.
In 2024 our casework team:
- Supported 297 new clients, including providing tailored one-on-one preparation for 253 asylum interviews, for people from 23 different countries.
- Formally represented 29 new clients.
- Worked on 9 family reunification cases to help bring loved ones back together.
- Responded to more than 135,000 messages on our hotline, providing essential guidance and reassurance.
- Our lawyer accompanied 13 clients to interviews and filed 9 appeals.
Furthermore, our advocacy and litigation teams remained committed to calling for systemic change:
- We engaged in advocacy and litigation efforts to hold responsible parties accountable for human rights violations, shining a light on the pressing issues faced by people on the move.
- We continued to raise awareness about the alarming situation on Samos, working alongside other organisations in Greece and beyond to push for structural change.
As we look ahead, the implementation of the EU’s New Pact on Migration and Asylum presents challenges—not just for us at Europe’s borders, but across the entire region. The coming years will shape the future of migration policy in Europe, and now more than ever, we must stand united to defend human rights.
Together, we are fighting for a world where everyone can boldly say, “I Have Rights.” Thank you for standing with us in this mission.
