In 2022, the I Have Rights team worked to uphold the rights of people on the move. Our teams, including our legal team, strategic litigation team, advocacy team, and core group worked together to improve the situation of asylum seekers and migrants on Samos and to advocate for greater protection of their human rights.
In 2022, I Have Rights:
  • Provided one-to-one legal counselling to 255 people from 27 countries;

  • Provided legal representation 51 people in their asylum procedures;

  • Answered 16,883 messages to our legal information hotline;

  • Held 15 legal information workshops, including 4 exclusively for women;

  • Fought for people’s rights to various international bodies, including the European Court of Human Rights, the UN Special Rapporteur on trafficking in person, and the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child;

  • Engaged in 53 separate advocacy initiatives to further the rights of people seeking safety in Greece;

  • Jointly advocated against pushbacks with other organisations on Samos, across Greece and around the world;

  • Became a member organisation of the Border Violence Monitoring Network.
