Samos

Pregnant Woman (7th month, 4th month at the time of the application)

Interim measures denied twice

Authorities have partly followed the order of the Court

Living conditions at the time of the application

The applicant lives alone in a small tent without any support from the authorities in the “jungle” surroundings of the RIC. The tent is surrounded by trash. The applicant once even found a snake under her tent. In winter when temperatures dropped close to 0°C, the applicant in absence of sheets to cover herself, used to wear all her clothes in the night. She is in a bad physical condition with significant pain. However, she does not receive any treatment or even examination. Because of the long distance to the sanitary facilities, the applicant uses a bucket to relieve herself. During three fires on 26 April 2020, the applicant lost her tent and belongings and had to sleep outside on a field for several nights without any material support.

Court decision

The Court rejected the request for interim measures twice.

Outcome

Greek Authorities transferred the applicant to a hotel on the mainland.
