TICKETS TO RIGHTS
Help I Have Rights Provide Access to Individualised Legal Advice This Winter
This winter, I Have Rights is raising €1,900 to provide bus tickets for people seeking asylum on Samos to reach our legal aid office in Vathy.
The Samos Closed Controlled Access Centre (CCAC), where asylum seekers are held during their asylum procedure, is located 8 kilometers away from our office. To receive individualised legal advice, which is a right guaranteed under EU and international law, our clients must either walk for over an hour and a half or pay €1.90 for a bus ticket.
For many, that small amount is an impossible expense. Without transportation, people are cut off from essential legal support and their right to fair asylum procedures is put at risk.
Tickets to rights is also about ensuring that our clients are able to unpack their experiences en route in a safer space. Our office welcomes clients and works to build trust, provide individualised legal advice and ensure that they feel better prepared for their asylum interview.
Our Goal
We aim to raise €1,900 to cover 1,000 bus tickets for the coming year. This will allow our clients to access:
- Free legal advice and representation
- Information on their rights and procedures amidst being de facto detained in undignified reception conditions.
- Support throughout their asylum process
Each €1.90 donation helps one person reach our office and with it, the time to be heard, prepared and given the knowledge to understand an already challenging and invasive procedure.
How You Can Help
Your contribution makes a direct and immediate impact.
- €1.90 = 1 bus ticket
- €19 = 10 bus tickets
- €190 = 100 bus tickets
Bus tickets are just one way to support our legal work and the space that hosts it. We would be grateful for your flexibility in how your donation is spent:
- The upkeep of our office in Vathy and/or
- Our strategic litigation work, which includes filing complaints with EU and Greek Ombudspersons, third party interventions and interim measures.
Donate today and help us keep access to justice, right-based and within reach.
